  • Governor General’s Award

    Vancouver’s Formline Architecture is delighted to learn that they are the first Indigenous-owned architectural firm ever to be awarded the Governor General’s Medal for Architecture. One of Canada’s top 2022 design prizes went to the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre at the heart of the UBC campus. According to Alfred Waugh: “This is tremendous recognition and a shot in the arm for my fellow status and Métis architects across the country”

  • Design Reveal: Saskatoon Public Library

    The new central library is a flagship of Canadian public library reconciliation in action. The design of the building will honor the Indigenous, Métis and the people and culture of Saskatoon. The building will serve as a living room, a safe and inclusive place to learn be inspired, and share ideas. Design inspiration for the form, character and use of materials is based on research and input gathered through the engagement process.

  • Mi’kmawey Debert Cultural Centre

    The design of the building will honour the Mi’kmawey people from the past, present and future. The building will serve as a safe and inclusive place with the intention to support visitors’ re-connections to the natural environment and the place of Mi’kmaw ancestors. Design inspiration for the form, character and use of materials is based on research and input gathered through the design meetings and engagement with the Elders Advisory Council.
